✿ Growing Japanese Cream-Fleshed Suika Watermelon Update 4

6.13.2015 First two harvested! The maturity of cream-fleshed Suika watermelon is only 82 days. Watermelon will not continue to ripe after harvest, so it is wise to remember when you planted the seeds.
Round shape, butter color flesh with small black seeds.

What I love about Suika is the thin rind. Cutting Suika is so easy, it literally cracked open by itself when I gently ran the knife through. It tastes fruity and clean. The brix index of Suika is 8.5, (Crimson is 9.9), which means it is not a super sweet type watermelon. I actually am a big fan of the delicate flavor. It contains less sugar, it won't make you thirsty after eating it.

6.15.2015  Second batch!

Almost 9 pounds! With the rind weights around 2 pounds, you do get a lot of edible fruit! I will definitely grow it again next season!
